CANBERRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
Exhibition Design Collateral
Visual Development // Print Management // Art Production
The Canberra CareersXpo is an annual event that allows Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) staff to engage with and provide information to potential students. The challenge is to ensure that CIT has a strong presence, stands out amongst the 100+ exhibitors and provides engaging marketing material that is relevant to the target audience.
Colour was used as a means to create a dynamic, fun and vibrant feel within the exhibition space. The marketing collateral made the space feel lively and drew a lot of attention from the young audience in attendance. Feedback from previous years found that exhibitors commonly fitted their space using single or minimal colour and relied heavily on printed material. In order to stand out amongst the crowd, digital facilities were mixed with printed material to enable more options for the audience and encourage interaction. Low cost, print collateral was required to advertise CIT’s annual open day. A6 double sided postcards were a viable solution as the turn around time for printing was fast and cost effective, they were easy to transport and left over copies could be utilized on campus. The look and feel was kept consistent, so as to tie in with the other marketing collateral. Variations in colour and imagery were applied to gain further attention and interest.
WALL PANELS // The wall panels not only needed to embody the look and feel of the current marketing style, but also needed to adhere to unique design specifications. Vibrant, neon like variations of the CIT colour palette were chosen to assist in drawing the audiences attention and to ensure that the area stood out.
COURSE GUIDE // The existing course guide was in dire need of an updated look and feel. Market research into required information and usability of previous versions assisted in designing a publication that was user friendly and visually appealing to the target market. To maintain consistency across print and digital platforms, the guide was formatted to align with the information on the CIT website. The new design incorporated coloured tabs and icons to make categories visually distinct and more accessible.
